When attorneys bank with institutions that pay higher interest rates, the additional interest translates directly to increased funding for legal help for low-income Massachusetts families. Massachusetts financial institutions have been solid partners in the IOLTA program for many years. But with the dramatic rate hikes by the Federal Reserve this year there is a great disparity between interest rates paid at IOLTA banks, as some banks react directly to the Fed hikes, while others have barely moved rates at all.
